Silverwoodverse
About Silverwoodverse
Wolves, foxes and the families that rule them. Silverwoodverse is a world of packs, pacts and old grudges, where blood decides who leads and scent decides who you can't lie to.
About this world
Silverwoodverse is a modern world where the supernatural lives in the margins of the human one: in ancient territories that have belonged to the same bloodlines for generations, and in the dense towers of Warren City, where the two worlds overlap most visibly. Its dominant species are shifters, bound to their nature by blood, instinct and the pull of the moon.
Werewolves are the oldest and most powerful, and their packs (Silverwood, Frostriver, Blood Eclipse and Black Mountain) are political powers as much as families, governed by hierarchy, tradition and the weight of centuries. Alongside them live demi-humans like the fox-blooded Morvain family, who choose exactly how much of their nature to show, and bear, feline and rarer lineages besides.
Beneath every division runs the designation system: Alphas, Betas and Omegas, readable from birth and settled at puberty, and the fated mates whose pull overturns even the most carefully ordered life. Around it all, a single river valley holds the packs, the corporations and a walled compound officially listed as abandoned, and every border between them is a river, and rivers run both ways.

The Wilding Saga
The World
This is a world where the natural exists alongside the human — quietly, mostly, in the margins of cities and deep in ancient territories that have belonged to the same bloodlines for generations. The dominant species are shifters: beings capable of taking both human and animal form, bound to their nature by blood, instinct, and the pull of the moon.
Werewolves are the oldest and most powerful of the shifter species, the founding bloodlines of every major pack in the known world. Their packs are political entities as much as biological ones — governed by hierarchy, tradition, and the weight of centuries. They are territorial, instinct-driven, and formidable in both forms.
But werewolves are not alone. Other shifters exist throughout this world — demi-humans like the fox-blooded Morvain family, who carry a different but equally potent natural heritage. Unlike the common misconception, demi-humans are fully capable of shifting; what distinguishes them is control. A fox-blooded demi-human can choose exactly how much of their nature to reveal — from the subtle flicker of a tail in a moment of emotion to a complete shift at will. A Morvain with nine tails does not have to show all nine. They simply choose when to, and to whom. This precision — the ability to be precisely as natural as the moment requires — is part of what makes demi-humans like the Morvains so formidable in the social and political arenas where werewolves rely on instinct and raw presence.
Other shifter lineages are scattered throughout the world as well: bear shifters, feline shifters, and rarer bloodlines with their own traditions and cultural relationships to the designation system. The natural world is wider than any single pack chooses to acknowledge.
What all of these species share — what binds the entire world together beneath its surface divisions — is the designation system.
The Designation System
A person’s designation is typically readable from birth — present in their scent, their instincts, the way they respond to the world before they have words for any of it. But it does not fully lock in until puberty, when the body completes its first major shift and the designation settles into something permanent. The years between birth and that threshold can carry surprises; a child who seemed clearly one designation occasionally shifts into another as they mature. It is rare, but it happens — and in a world where designation determines so much, those transitions are rarely simple.
- Alphas — Natural leaders. Dominant, powerful, decisive. Where an Alpha walks, the room reorganises itself around them. They are protectors, commanders, and — at their worst — tyrants.
- Betas — The backbone of any pack or faction. Loyal, practical, and sharp-minded, Betas are the ones who keep things running when Alpha instinct threatens to burn everything down.
- Omegas — The emotional core of any community. Empathetic and intuitive, Omegas carry a quiet authority that has nothing to do with force — they are the ones who hold people together when everything else pulls them apart.
Fated Mates are a profound and primal truth in this world — a destined partner recognised through an undeniable instinctual pull and a unique scent. The bond transcends logic and overturns even the most carefully ordered life. No one is immune. Not even those who most wish they were.
Wolf Forms: A Size Guide
A werewolf ’s form in the shift is not uniform — size varies by designation and by individual, and in a world where physical presence carries political weight, those differences are never incidental.
Alphas are the largest wolves, typically standing at 150cm at the shoulder or above. They are built for dominance: broad, heavy, and unmistakable. Male Alpha wolves tend toward the larger end of the scale, though a large female Alpha is no less commanding for being slightly lighter.
Betas are leaner and somewhat smaller, typically 100–110cm at the shoulder and proportionally built for speed and endurance over raw mass. Fast, disciplined wolves — the kind of form suited to enforcement and pursuit rather than the open shows of strength that Alpha builds invite.
Omegas are the smallest of the three designations, typically 60–80cm at the shoulder. This is not a weakness — an Omega’s wolf form carries its own distinct kind of presence, and the assumption that smaller means lesser has gotten more than one Alpha into trouble. Omega wolves are agile, perceptive, and harder to catch than their size implies.
The World & Its Geography
The natural world is anchored around a single river valley — a stretch of ancient land where forest, mountain, and city exist in uneasy proximity, each faction holding its piece of the map with varying degrees of grip.
At the geographical heart of it all lies the Silverwood territory: a vast, circular sweep of old-growth forest ringed by the river on its eastern edge, with a great lake at its centre and the Manor rising from the water’s shore. It is the literal middle of the world here — everything else arranges itself around it. To the northwest, the forest gives way to the darker, wilder landscape of Blood Eclipse territory. Further north, where the treeline thins and the land begins to climb, sits Black Mountain — dark peaks wreathed in cloud at the northwestern edge of the known world. Northeast, the mountains rise into sharp, snow-capped peaks: Frostriver territory, permanently cold and permanently imposing. The border between Frostriver and Silverwood is the river itself — running south along Silverwood’s eastern edge before it reaches Warren City, the sprawling urban mass at the southeastern corner of the map.
South of Silverwood, tucked below the forest and set apart from everything else, lies the Shadowfall compound — a walled, militaristic complex in the open land between the forest and the city’s outer edge, officially listed as abandoned.

Known Laws & Customs
Universal Laws
Claiming & The Marking Bite
Across every pack and faction in this world, the claiming bond is recognised as one of the most significant acts between two people. When an Alpha claims a mate, it is sealed with a marking bite — a deep bite to the neck near the scent gland, drawn hard enough to scar. The resulting mark is permanent: a visible brand that intertwines the pair’s scents and signals to every other natural being that this person is claimed. The bite is typically given in private, during an intimate moment, though the traditions around what precedes it vary enormously between factions. What does not vary is its permanence. A claiming mark cannot be undone.
Hierarchy Etiquette
In any room containing multiple Alphas, the hierarchy is felt before it is spoken. Packmaster or Alpha Prime authority is absolute — their word ends arguments, their presence commands instinctive deference from subordinates, and challenging them openly is a declaration of intent. Status is communicated through body language, scent, and positioning as much as rank — an Alpha who holds eye contact too long, stands too close, or speaks out of turn in a formal setting is broadcasting aggression whether they mean to or not.
Succession
Silverwood and Blood Eclipse operate on planned succession — the Packmaster names an heir, typically from within the family line, and the transition is managed rather than contested. Leadership is a responsibility to be prepared for. Frostriver and Black Mountain take a harder view: leadership is proven, not given. Challengers may fight for the Packmaster seat, and strength — not bloodline alone — is what keeps an Alpha Prime in power.
Fated Mates
Recognised universally across all factions as a bond ordained by the Moon Goddess and impossible to manufacture or fake. A fated mate is identified by an instinctive, overpowering pull — a scent that stops you in your tracks, a recognition that bypasses conscious thought entirely. Even the most rigid factions, including Frostriver, make exceptions to their laws for a fated mate pairing. The bond may be sacred. Trust is still earned.
How Factions Treat Their Members
Silverwood & Blood Eclipse — “The Guardian Model”
Both packs operate on a broadly egalitarian philosophy by natural standards. Omegas are protected and cared for, but they are not caged — they hold active roles, make their own choices about mating and career, and are regarded as full members of the pack rather than assets to be allocated. Betas are trusted advisors and partners. Leadership ultimately rests with the Alpha Packmaster, whose word is final, but the culture is one of consultation, warmth, and collective loyalty. The pack is a family, not a hierarchy to be climbed.
Frostriver & Black Mountain — “The Stronghold Model”
Omegas are prized above all else — but that prize comes with a cage. They are fiercely sheltered, their movements controlled, their mating choices made for them by the Alpha Prime or Packmaster. Betas are expected to be disciplined and obedient. Alphas are held to a brutal standard: strength and loyalty are mandatory, and those who step out of line risk exile or death. The Alpha Prime holds total authority with no democratic check. Black Mountain edges toward full isolationism — the mountain is all they need, and strangers are complications.
The Morvain Syndicate — “The Family Model”
The Morvains do not have pack law in the traditional sense. What they have is family loyalty, enforced through a mixture of genuine love and the quiet, ever-present understanding that betraying the family has consequences. Information is the currency, discretion is the religion, and chosen family sits equal to blood. Designations matter less here than usefulness and trust.
Ashworth Global — “The Corporate Model”
Ashworth runs like what it is: a corporation. Designation informs internal dynamics the way class might in a human company — present, influential, and never officially acknowledged as a factor. Results are what matter. Loyalty is contractual. There is no pack bond, no instinctive deference, no marking culture in the boardroom.
The Shadowfall Pack — “The Unit Model”
Seven people, one chain of command, zero tolerance for sentiment. Shadowfall operates like the military unit it essentially is: Garret’s word is law, every member has a defined role, and cohesion is maintained through discipline and the kind of trust that only comes from surviving things together. What matters is the mission, and the mission always comes first.
Warren City
Warren City did not begin as anything grand. It started as a small industrial settlement — a mill town, a trading post, a place where goods moved through and people stopped long enough to do business before moving on. The founding families were human, mostly, or close enough: industrialists who built warehouses along the river, who dug roads through the flatlands south of the forest, who grew rich on trade without ever fully understanding what lived in the trees to their north and in the mountains beyond.
But the Packs around it grew, and as they grew, the city grew with them. Warren City became something neither entirely human nor entirely natural — a seam in the world, a place where Pack law and city law existed in ambiguous overlap and everyone navigated the gap as best they could. When Packs needed neutral ground to negotiate, trade, or resolve disputes without the weight of territorial politics, they came to Warren City. Over time it grew into what its name suggests: a literal warren of passages and roads, layered histories and competing interests, too tangled to be controlled by any single hand.
The founding industrial families faded across generations. Some were absorbed into the natural networks growing up around them. Others aged out, their children uninterested in the mills and trading houses that made the family name. What replaced them was a city increasingly shaped by natural money, natural politics, and the particular kind of ambition that flourishes in places with no single ruling power.
Matthew Silverwood was the first Packmaster to fully understand what Warren City could be. Under his leadership, Silverwood Pharmaceuticals and the family’s financial interests pushed deep roots into the city — not as invaders, but as investors, building the kind of institutional presence that takes generations to uproot. The Silverwoods did not conquer Warren City. They made themselves indispensable to it.
Mirianne Hellan — a wolf exiled from Black Mountain — built the information network that would later become the foundation of the Morvain Syndicate. Operating from the city’s nightlife and its back rooms, Mirianne established the principle that would define Warren City’s underworld for decades: that secrets, carefully collected and strategically deployed, were worth more than any territory or corporate share. She ran her operation with precision and ruthlessness, becoming the unseen queen of Warren City’s information trade. Lucien Morvain killed her to take it. He inherited not just her network, but her understanding of what Warren City fundamentally was — and improved on both.
Warren City today is a thriving, layered, complicated place. Silverwood and Ashworth Global compete across every boardroom in the financial district, their rivalry playing out in acquisition announcements and corporate maneuvering that the city’s population watches as theatre, largely unaware of the natural politics underneath. And beneath all of it — in the velvet-shadowed rooms of The Skulk, in the courier routes that only the Morvains know, in the favors brokered in the small hours over drinks that cost too much — the Syndicate moves. Warren City belongs to no one. That, for those who know how to use it, is the most useful thing about it.

Inter-Faction Relations
The map shows where each faction sits. This shows how they feel about each other.
Silverwood ↔ Frostriver — Tense. Always.
The oldest and most loaded rivalry in the region. The Blood Coup and the two-year war that followed left scars on both sides that have never fully healed. There is no open conflict right now — but the border between their territories is a river, and rivers run both ways. Every generation of Silverwood leadership has had to manage this tension. Every generation of Frostriver has exploited it.
Silverwood ↔ Blood Eclipse — Friendly. Longstanding.
One of the more stable relationships in the natural world. The alliance is old enough that it no longer needs much maintenance — it is simply understood. Blood Eclipse fights alongside Silverwood when called upon, and Silverwood extends the same courtesy in return.
Frostriver ↔ Black Mountain — Friendly. Useful.
Less warmth here than pragmatism. Black Mountain’s isolation means they have depended on Frostriver’s resources and connections at various points, and Frostriver benefits from having a reliable flank to the north. They are not close. They are convenient.
Ashworth ↔ Frostriver — Loosely Cordial. Personal, Not Political.
Alaric Ashworth and Xander Frostriver share a history — both were exiled during the Blood Coup, both built their power from scratch in the years that followed. There is a residual familiarity there that keeps relations warmer than they might otherwise be. It is not an alliance. It is a surviving thread of something that used to be.
Silverwood ↔ Shadowfall — Allied. Transactional.
Kaelen calls. Garret answers. The terms are clear, the arrangement is mutually beneficial, and neither side pretends it is anything more than that. Garret’s loyalty is bought, not given — which Kaelen understands and respects in its own way.
The Skulk ↔ Everyone — Independent. Always.
The Morvains do not take sides. This is not neutrality born of weakness — it is the entire source of their power. The Skulk’s value to everyone depends on it belonging to no one. Lucien has turned down approaches from Silverwood, Frostriver, and Ashworth alike, and has done so with enough grace that none of them have stopped coming back.
What keeps the other factions from pushing harder is the quiet, collective understanding that Lucien Morvain has been watching everyone walk through his door for years — and forgetting nothing. Every pack, every Alpha, every faction has said something in The Skulk they would prefer stayed there. Whether Lucien would ever use what he knows is almost beside the point. The possibility alone is enough to ensure his independence goes unchallenged.
The Silverwood Pack
“This Pack has survived fifteen generations of grief, war, and everything in between. It will survive whatever comes next. That is not optimism. That is fact.”
— Kaelen Silverwood, Packmaster
Deep in ancient forestland at the literal centre of this world, where the trees grow so tall and dense that midday still feels like dusk and a great lake mirrors the sky from the territory’s heart, the Silverwood Pack has held its ground for fifteen generations. At the centre of it all, on the lakeshore, stands Silverwood Manor: a grand, imposing structure that is equal parts fortress and family home, the kind of place that has absorbed generations of grief and triumph into its walls and carries them quietly.
The Pack is powerful, polished, and connected to both the natural world and the corporate one — Kaelen Silverwood runs the family enterprise as both Packmaster and CEO, and the Silverwoods move through both worlds with equal authority.
Pack Size: 800+ wolves
Leadership: Alpha Packmaster, supported by a Beta and key Alpha enforcers

- Lyra Silverwood — Alpha, 37. Kaelen’s twin. Strategist and protector; pragmatic, disciplined, and defined by her commitment to order.
- Talia Silverwood — Beta, 35. Primary legal counsel for all Silverwood enterprises. Structured and unflappable, with a dry wit sharp enough to cut glass.
- Vyra Silverwood — Omega, 32. Head of Pack Wellbeing & Mediator. Empathetic, intuitive, and a natural peacemaker; the emotional anchor the Pack quietly depends on.
- Xara Silverwood — Omega, 21. The youngest sibling — a force of impulsive, mischievous chaos who moves through the world on instinct and leaves her Pack scrambling in her wake.
- Kieran Silverwood — Omega, 27. The cousin — a rebellious soul returned after six years of walk-about.
The Stoneriver Family
- Rexton Stoneriver — Beta, 37. Head of Silverwood Security. Gruff, direct, and fiercely loyal. Finds solace in oil painting — a detail that surprises everyone who meets him.

The Shadowfall Pack — “The Bloody Hand”
“I don’t do clean. Kaelen has people for clean. He calls me when clean isn’t an option anymore.”
— Garret Shadowfall
South of Silverwood’s forest, where the treeline breaks and the land opens into scrubby flatland before the city’s edge takes over, the Shadowfall compound sits behind its walls like a held breath. Most people who pass it assume it is derelict. That is by design.
You won’t find the Shadowfall Pack on any register. What there is: a small, elite unit of seven — two Alphas and five Betas — composed of individuals who were too dangerous, too damaged, or too singular for conventional packs. Garret Shadowfall built them from the ground up with brutal efficiency and zero sentimentality, and what he built is precise and merciless.
Their arrangement with Silverwood is purely transactional. When Kaelen needs something done that his own Pack cannot or should not touch — something that requires no witnesses, no official record, and no restraint — he calls on Garret. They are the blade in the darkness.
Pack Size: 7 (two Alphas, five Betas)
Leadership: Alpha Garret Shadowfall
Notable Characters
- Garret Shadowfall — Alpha, 35. Ruthless founding leader. Rebuilt a dying bloodline into a precision instrument of controlled violence.
- Vayne — Alpha, 31. Master of psychological warfare, intimidation, and negotiation.
- Rook — Beta, 30. Silent hunter; unparalleled tracker and reconnaissance specialist.
- Wraith — Beta, 33. Infiltration, sabotage, and silent assassination.
- Grit — Beta, 24. Demolitions and brute force; the unit’s blunt instrument, wielded with precision.
- Echo — Beta, 35. Communications and tech specialist; hacker and intel interceptor.
- Vex — Beta, 27. Medic and poison specialist — equally capable of keeping someone alive or ensuring they aren’t.
The Blood Eclipse Pack
West of Silverwood, where the forest shifts in character — the trees growing closer, the light different, the quiet heavier — Blood Eclipse territory stretches across dense woodland that climbs into rugged mountainside and opens into sweeping ravines of unexpected beauty. One of Silverwood’s oldest allies, the Pack keeps largely to its own borders. Their defining story belongs to a later chapter.
The Frostriver Pack — “Honour the Blood”
“Sentiment is a luxury. In these mountains, luxury gets people killed.”
— Xander Frostriver, Alpha Prime
Northeast of Silverwood, where the river that marks the border bends and the land begins its long, cold climb, the mountains rise into snow-capped peaks that stay white year-round regardless of the season below. Frostriver territory exists in a state of near-permanent winter. The cold is not incidental — it is formative. There is no warmth in Frostriver culture that hasn’t been earned through absolute loyalty first.
Emotional displays are considered weakness. Disloyalty is met with public execution. The Alpha Prime holds absolute authority — including over mate pairings. Omegas are considered the Pack’s most prized asset, with no agency over who they are paired with. The only exception is a Fated Mate bond, which even Frostriver recognises as a decree of the Moon Goddess.
The Pack’s recent history is defined by the Blood Coup: twenty years ago, Marcus Frostriver was overthrown by Terran Hale in a takeover that spilled across the Silverwood border and ignited a two-year war. Marcus’s fifteen-year-old son and heir, Xander, was exiled. Ten years later, Xander returned and killed Terran with his bare hands, in front of the whole Pack, and reclaimed everything.
Pack Size: ~350 wolves
Territory: Snow-capped mountains northeast of Silverwood; the river serves as the western border with Silverwood
Leadership: Alpha Prime, supported by two Alpha companions and three Betas
Rivals: Silverwood Pack

Notable Characters
- Xander Frostriver — Alpha Prime, ~25 at reclamation. Rebuilt the Pack from ruin through sheer force of will. His rule is absolute — for now.
The Morvain Syndicate — “The Skulk”
“Everyone who walks through that door thinks they’re here for the drinks. By the time they leave, I know something they would prefer I didn’t. That’s not an accident.”
— Lucien Morvain
In the heart of Warren City, on a street that is always slightly louder and more alive than those surrounding it, sits the bar that everyone finds their way to eventually. Velvet-shadowed, buzzing, the kind of place where the drinks are always exactly right. From the inside — if you know where to look — it is also a nexus of whispered secrets, political maneuvering, and carefully brokered favors.
The Skulk is run by the Morvain family, a close-knit bloodline with fox-shifter heritage. They are a syndicate: blood, chosen family, and loyal strays bound by necessity and ambition. Where Silverwood has territory and Frostriver has tradition, the Morvains have information. In this world, a well-kept secret is worth more than any land.
Leadership: Lucien Morvain

Notable Characters
- Lucien Morvain — Alpha, 34. Fox-blooded demi-human. Head of the family; ruler of The Skulk’s shadows. Suave, cunning, and dangerous in the particular way of people who are always watching.
- Selyra Morvain — Alpha. Lucien’s mother. The family matriarch; keeps the politics of kin and clients running smoothly beneath the surface.
- Avacy Morvain — Beta, 36. Fox-blood. Lucien’s sister. The family’s accountant — stern, precise, unflinching.
- Jacen “Echo” Morvain — Beta, 33. Fox-blood. Lucien’s brother. Bartender, information-gatherer, and Lucien’s most reliable shadow. Charismatic and quick-tongued.
- Noriel Morvain — Omega, 31. Echo’s mate. Gentle, airy, and quietly observant — she sees what others miss, and she keeps it.
- Rose “Blue” Brindlewater — Alpha, 30. Werewolf. Formerly Frostriver, cast out during the coup. Lucien’s chosen family. Courier and enforcer; ice-eyed and impossible to rattle.
Ashworth Global Holdings — “The Evolution Empire”
“Kaelen Silverwood rules a forest. I own the supply chain that keeps his Pack fed, medicated, and employed. Tell me again which of us is living in the past.”
— Alaric Ashworth, CEO
If the Silverwood Pack represents the old world — blood and bone and ancient forest — then Ashworth Global represents everything that has grown up around it: gleaming towers in Warren City’s skyline, a conglomerate spanning disruptive tech and biotech, offices worldwide, and fingers in every major faction’s affairs. It operates on one governing philosophy: the ends justify the means. Always.
Alaric Ashworth built the company from nothing, channelling the particular fury of a man who was exiled young and decided the best revenge was an empire. He views Kaelen Silverwood as an old-world relic. He views pack loyalty as an archaic cage he has had the good sense to escape.
Size: 10,000+ employees
HQ: Warren City (global subsidiaries worldwide)
Leadership: CEO Alaric Ashworth
Notable Characters
- Alaric Ashworth — Alpha, 38. CEO. Cunning, manipulative, and unaligned by design. Views pack tradition as weakness and Kaelen Silverwood as a stubborn example of it.
- Rhys Marr — Beta, 40. Head of Operations. Cold, efficient, and completely loyal; executes the tasks Alaric won’t attach his name to.
- Vivienne Dubois — Beta, 30. Lead Scientist. Brilliant and ethically flexible; loyal to Alaric because he funds her work and asks no inconvenient questions.
- Michael Kim — Beta, 35. Alaric’s personal chauffeur and bodyguard. Ex-special forces. Devoted and silent.
The Black Mountain Pack
Northwest of Silverwood, where the forest darkens and the elevation begins its sharp climb, the Black Mountain Pack occupies a stretch of highland terrain that most outsiders never reach. Their manor sits high on the mountainside, overlooking sweeping valleys through cloud and mist. The Pack keeps to itself — rarely venturing beyond its borders, relying on the mountain’s natural isolation to keep the wider world at arm’s length. Their defining alliances and conflicts belong to a later chapter.
The Family Trees

Ancient instincts. Modern complexity. The bonds of blood run deeper than anything — and that is both the Pack’s greatest strength and its most enduring wound.
The Legacy Saga
The World
This is a world where the supernatural exists alongside the human — quietly, mostly, in the margins of cities and deep in ancient territories that have belonged to the same bloodlines for generations.
The great packs — Silverwood, Frostriver, Blood Eclipse, Black Mountain — are all werewolf bloodlines, and they have shaped the political map of this world for generations.
But werewolves are not alone. Other shifters exist throughout this world — demi-humans like the fox-blooded Morvain family, who carry a different but equally potent supernatural heritage. This precision — the ability to be precisely as supernatural as the moment requires — is part of what makes demi-humans like the Morvains so formidable in the social and political arenas where werewolves rely on instinct and raw presence.
Other shifter lineages are scattered throughout the world as well: bear shifters, feline shifters, and rarer bloodlines with their own traditions. Thirty years on, Warren City in particular has become a place where multiple species coexist with varying degrees of friction — and the question of how designation law applies across species lines is one the packs have never quite resolved.
Fated Mates remain a profound and primal truth — a destined partner recognised through instinct and scent alone, a bond that transcends logic and overturns even the most carefully ordered life.
The supernatural world is anchored around a single river valley — ancient land where forest, mountain, and city have coexisted for generations in arrangements that have never quite been peaceful and are now, thirty years on, coming apart at the seams.
At the geographical heart of it all lies Silverwood territory: a vast, circular sweep of old-growth forest enclosed by the river on its eastern edge, a great lake at its centre, and the Manor rising from the lakeshore. The literal middle of this world — everything else arranges itself around it. To the northwest, Blood Eclipse territory, where the trees grow closer and the quiet is different. Further north, Black Mountain — dark, cloud-wrapped peaks. Northeast, Frostriver territory, permanently cold and permanently imposing. The river along Silverwood’s eastern border divides the two Packs — it looks unremarkable on a map. It is not.
South of Silverwood’s forest sits the Shadowfall Veil compound: walled, militaristic, and officially listed as abandoned. East and south, where the river meets the lowlands, Warren City spreads in dense towers and layered streets — where the supernatural world and the modern one overlap most visibly.

The State of the World
The children of legacy inherit not peace, but the ashes of restraint — and the choice to burn or rebuild what their parents left behind.
Seven major organisations serve as the primary power brokers. The decades of relative peace are fracturing. Ten years ago, Vyra Silverwood was found dead on the border between Silverwood and Frostriver territories — on the riverbank that was always the world’s most volatile line. Her murder shattered the uneasy calm that had held for over thirty years and set everything that followed into motion.
What no one knows — except Xander Frostriver — is that the killer was a rogue Alpha named Logan, formerly of the Blood Eclipse Pack, who lost control of his wolf on that border and has been running from it ever since. Xander carries the secret to prevent an all-out war. Silverwood believes Frostriver is responsible. The accusation is never spoken directly, but it colours everything. Silverwood and Frostriver stand on the brink of full-scale war.
The Currents Running Underneath
- Faith Revived — Moon Goddess cults are rising again across the supernatural world, offering spiritual order to people whose political structures are failing them.
- Fractured Alliances — The Silverwood-Frostriver divide deepens with every passing season. Rogues exploit the tension wherever they find it.
- The Veil Moves — Unseen hands have been eliminating threats before the balance tips too far. Whether that is reassuring depends on who you ask.
- The Skulk Profits — Every secret has a price. Every truth, a buyer. Business has never been better.
The resulting mark is permanent: a visible brand that intertwines the pair’s scents and signals to every other supernatural being that this person is claimed.
Status is communicated through body language, scent, and positioning as much as rank.
Succession
Silverwood and Blood Eclipse operate on planned succession — the Packmaster names an heir and the transition is managed. Leadership is a responsibility to be prepared for. Frostriver and Black Mountain take a harder view: leadership is proven, not given. Challengers may fight for the Packmaster seat. Weakness is exploited. Deference is never assumed.
Fated Mates
Recognised universally as a bond ordained by the Moon Goddess and impossible to manufacture or fake. Even the most rigid factions, including Frostriver, make exceptions for a fated mate pairing. The bond may be sacred. Trust is still earned.
How Factions Treat Their Members
Silverwood & Blood Eclipse — “The Guardian Model”
Both packs operate on a broadly egalitarian philosophy. Omegas are protected and cared for, but they are not caged — they hold active roles, make their own choices about mating and career, and are regarded as full members. Betas are trusted advisors and partners. The culture is one of consultation, warmth, and collective loyalty. The pack is a family, not a hierarchy to be climbed.
Frostriver & Black Mountain — “The Stronghold Model”
Omegas are prized above all else — but that prize comes with a cage. They are fiercely sheltered, their movements controlled, their mating choices made for them by the Alpha Prime. The Alpha Prime holds total authority. Outsiders are viewed with deep suspicion. Black Mountain edges toward full isolationism.
The Morvain Syndicate — “The Family Model”
The Morvains have family loyalty rather than pack law — enforced through genuine love and the quiet understanding that betraying the family has consequences. Information is the currency, discretion is the religion, and chosen family sits equal to blood.
Ashworth Global — “The Corporate Model”
Ashworth runs like a corporation. Results are what matter. Loyalty is contractual. There is no pack bond in the boardroom. Alaric built something deliberately stripped of everything the pack world holds sacred — and his son Alexander wants to go a step further, using science to make designations themselves optional.
The Shadowfall Veil — “The Network Model”
Seventeen people, one chain of command, zero tolerance for sentiment. The Veil operates like the intelligence unit it has become: absolute authority, defined specialisations, and cohesion maintained through discipline and shared survival. The mission is always balance.
Warren City became something neither entirely human nor entirely supernatural — a seam in the world, a place where Pack law and city law existed in ambiguous overlap and everyone navigated the gap as best they could.
Some were absorbed into the supernatural networks growing up around them. Others aged out, their children uninterested in the mills and trading houses that made the family name. What replaced them was a city increasingly shaped by supernatural money, supernatural politics, and the particular kind of ambition that flourishes in places with no single ruling power.
Mirianne Hellan — a wolf exiled from Black Mountain — built the information network that would eventually become the foundation of what Lucien Morvain inherited.
Thirty years on, Warren City is a thriving, layered, complicated place. Silverwood and Ashworth Global compete across every boardroom in the financial district, their rivalry playing out in acquisition announcements and corporate maneuvering that the city’s population watches as theatre, largely unaware of the supernatural politics underneath. The Silverwood-Frostriver tension that has been building for a decade is felt here too — in cancelled meetings, in shifted alliances, in the way certain names are no longer spoken easily in mixed company.
And beneath all of it — in the velvet-shadowed rooms of The Skulk, in the courier routes that only the Morvains know, in the favors brokered in the small hours over drinks that cost too much — the Syndicate moves. Controlling information. Financing the things that can’t be financed in daylight. Watching everything, forgetting nothing. Warren City belongs to no one, and no one understands that better than Lucien Morvain. It is, after all, exactly how he likes it.

Present · World State
The world as it stands
Silverwood and Frostriver stand on the brink of full-scale war. Logan Thorne builds the Unbound Claw from rogue remnants. Ashworth Global cuts ties with all factions. Moon Goddess cults resurge. And beneath everything — in the back booths of The Skulk — Lucien Morvain watches, and remembers.
Inter-Faction Relations
The map shows where each faction sits. This shows how they feel about each other.
Silverwood ↔ Frostriver — Escalating. Dangerous.
Ten years of grief, accusation, and silence have transformed an old rivalry into something with the texture of inevitability. Silverwood holds Frostriver responsible for Vyra’s death. Frostriver denies it. Neither side is willing to move first, but neither is willing to stand down. The border river has never felt narrower.
Silverwood ↔ Blood Eclipse — Allied. Tight.
One of the most stable relationships in the supernatural world, deepened rather than weakened by the events of the last decade. Joshua Thorne carries the private knowledge of what his brother actually did. That weight sits between him and Kaelen without either man knowing it.
Frostriver ↔ Black Mountain — Reluctantly Allied.
The arrangement has calcified into something neither side particularly enjoys. Black Mountain depends on Frostriver for resources; Frostriver keeps the alliance for a reliable northern flank. There is no warmth. There is function.
Ashworth ↔ Everyone — Severed. Deliberate.
Ashworth Global has cut its informal ties with every faction. Whether this is principle or positioning, no one is entirely sure. Alexander Ashworth’s interest in redesigning the designation system is either the most threatening idea in the supernatural world right now, or the most useful one, depending entirely on who you ask.
Shadowfall Veil ↔ Everyone — Neutral. Watching.
The Veil serves the balance, not any individual faction. No faction fully trusts them. No faction fully wants them as an enemy either.
The Unbound Claw ↔ Everyone — A Destabilising Force.
Logan Thorne isn’t building an empire. But the Unbound Claw running unchecked through the border territories — exploiting the tension between Silverwood and Frostriver, drawing other rogues into their orbit — is exactly the kind of chaos that tips careful balances into collapse. The Veil is watching. So is The Skulk.
The Skulk ↔ Everyone — Independent. Always.
The Morvains do not take sides. Thirty years on, this has not changed. The escalating crisis has made The Skulk more valuable — a rare piece of neutral ground in a world where neutrality is disappearing.
What no faction discusses openly, but every faction understands, is that independence enforced by charm only goes so far. What actually keeps everyone in line is the knowledge that Lucien Morvain has been collecting their secrets for thirty years. Kaelen’s vulnerabilities. Xander’s. Alaric’s. None of it has ever been used against anyone — which is precisely what makes it so effective. The other factions are not just neutral toward the Morvains. They are careful.
The Silverwood Pack
“My father built this Pack on sacrifice. I have spent thirty years trying to make sure that sacrifice meant something. I am not finished yet.”
— Kaelen Silverwood, Packmaster
At the heart of the world — literally, geographically, and in terms of raw power — Silverwood territory spreads in every direction from its central lake. Silverwood Manor on the lakeshore looks like it grew from the same ground. Grand, imposing, and utterly rooted. It has outlasted every threat the world has sent at it so far.
Kaelen Silverwood still holds the Packmaster seat at sixty-seven. The next generation has grown up in his shadow. Around them all, unspoken but never absent, is Vyra. Her death changed the Pack’s internal politics in ways still unfolding a decade later. The Silverwoods turned inward. And while the walls they built were meant to protect, some of what they kept out was light.

- Rowan Silverwood — Omega, 24. Kieran’s daughter. Wildfire incarnate — reckless, passionate, and impossible to cage.
- Willa Silverwood — Omega, 21. Kieran’s daughter. Quiet, perceptive, and unsettlingly wise for her years.

The Frostriver Pack — “Honour the Blood”
“Peace was never something we were given. It was something we crushed Terran Hale’s throat to take back. I will not apologise for how long I have held onto it.”
— Xander Frostriver, Alpha Prime
Northeast of Silverwood, where the river that serves as both border and battleground bends away from the forest and the land begins its long, cold ascent, the mountains rise into snow-capped peaks that never quite thaw. Frostriver territory is permanent winter. The cold is not incidental — it is formative.
The Pack suits its landscape. Emotional displays are weakness. Disloyalty is punished publicly. The Alpha Prime holds absolute authority over law, strategy, and mate pairings. Omegas are the Pack’s most prized asset, protected and assigned without personal agency.
Xander Frostriver has ruled for forty years. The Pack he rebuilt is a monument to his will. It is also beginning to crack. And Xander carries something that has been growing heavier for ten years: the knowledge of who actually killed Vyra Silverwood, and the calculation that telling the truth would cost more lives than keeping it.
Pack Size: 500+ wolves
Territory: Snow-capped mountains northeast of Silverwood; the river marks the western border
Leadership: Alpha Prime, supported by two Alpha companions and three Betas
Allies: Black Mountain Pack
Enemies/Rivals: Silverwood Pack, Blood Eclipse Pack

Notable Characters
- Xander Frostriver — Alpha, 65. The Alpha Prime. Rebuilt the Pack after the Blood Coup; ruled with iron will ever since. The secret he carries grows heavier by the year.
- Kian Reed — Beta, 68. Beta Prime; Xander’s first. Stoic.
- Anyara Redcliff — Beta, 61. Xander’s second. Fen’s half-sister; Terran Hale’s daughter, which is a history all its own.
- Fen Hale — Omega, 50. Anyara’s half-brother. Clumsy, chaotic, and somehow still standing.
- Marcus Frostriver — Alpha, 29. Xander’s son and heir. Loyal — but restless in a way his father hasn’t yet decided what to do with.
- Aurora Frostriver — Omega, 21. Xander’s daughter. His complete opposite — reckless, playful, and the Pack’s most reliable scandal.
The Blood Eclipse Pack
“My brother is out there somewhere, and he is not okay. I know that. I also know what he did. Both things are true and I have to live in the space between them.”
— Joshua Thorne, Alpha Prime
West of Silverwood, where the forest shifts in character — trees growing closer, light coming through differently, the quiet carrying a weight it doesn’t have elsewhere — Blood Eclipse territory stretches across dense woodland that climbs into rugged mountainside. At the heart of it, half-hidden in perpetual mist, stands Blood Eclipse House: grand, old-world, and built to last.
The Alpha bloodline bears a hereditary curse — male Alphas risk losing control of their wolf without warning, without cause, without recourse. The Pack has built its entire culture around restraint because the alternative has consequences the bloodline has seen up close.
Ten years ago, it cost Vyra Silverwood’s life. Joshua Thorne’s brother Logan lost control on the Silverwood-Frostriver border and never came back from it. Joshua exiled him. His absence is the wound that keeps Silverwood and Frostriver from ever truly reconciling — because the world blames Frostriver for a death that belongs somewhere else entirely.
Pack Size: 800 wolves
Territory: West of Silverwood; dense forest climbing into mountainside and opening into ravines
Leadership: Alpha Prime, supported by a Beta
Notable Characters
- Joshua Thorne — Alpha, 38. Alpha Prime. Commanding, controlled, and deeply loyal. Carries both the curse and the grief of knowing what his brother did.
- Selene Thorne — Omega, 29. Joshua’s sister. Fun, quick-witted, and fiercely loving. Spaces out often; cares deeply always.
- Mary Thorne — Omega, 60. Former Pack Luna. Sweet, maternal, patient. Mother to Joshua, Logan, and Selene.
- Eli Mercer — Beta, 29. Joshua’s second-in-command and closest friend. Soft-spoken, dependable, and perpetually overthinking everything.
The Shadowfall Veil — “The Bloody Hand”
“Father served one pack. We serve the whole board. It’s a longer game, but the stakes are worth it.”
— Valen Shadowfall
South of Silverwood’s forest, in the open flatland between the trees and Warren City’s outer sprawl, the Shadowfall compound sits behind its walls and waits. Most people who know it exists assume it is derelict. The seventeen people living in it have no interest in correcting that assumption.
Garret Shadowfall’s sons, Valen and Stellan, rebuilt what their father left and cut its ties to Silverwood entirely. The Shadowfall Veil now serves no pack and no Alpha. It serves only the equilibrium of power — the belief that if any one faction gains too much ground, everyone loses.
Pack Size: 17 (unknown to the public)
Territory: Walled compound south of Silverwood; officially listed as abandoned
Leadership: Two Alphas — Valen and Stellan Shadowfall
Notable Characters
- Valen Shadowfall — Alpha, 29. The Warden. Precision and discipline forged across a lifetime of blood.
- Stellan Shadowfall — Alpha, 25. The Wildfire. Reckless brilliance with a dangerous charm — his father’s efficiency married to something entirely his own.
The Morvain Syndicate — “The Skulk”
“I have outlasted three Packmaster successions, two near-wars, and one very ill-advised attempt to burn this building down. The Skulk endures. It always has. It always will.”
— Lucien Morvain
Where the river reaches Warren City and the supernatural world folds itself into the modern one, The Skulk occupies exactly the kind of corner that seems inevitable in retrospect. Velvet-lit, buzzing, neutral ground where wolves and foxes and old enemies share a drink without incident. Everyone comes eventually. Lucien Morvain has been counting on that for thirty years.
The Morvain family’s fox-shifter heritage gives them what no wolf pack possesses: the ability to thrive in the margins, to move between worlds without territorial obligation, to build power from what everyone else dismisses as peripheral. They are a syndicate — blood, chosen family, and loyal strays held together by love, necessity, and the shared understanding that information is the most durable currency in existence.
Leadership: Lucien Morvain
Notable Characters
- Lucien Morvain — Alpha, 64. Fox-blooded demi-human. “The Black Fox.” Once a legend of manipulation; now the silent king of Warren City’s information trade.
- Selyra Morvain — Alpha. Lucien’s mother. The family matriarch who holds the broader Morvain bloodline together. Manages the subtle politics of kin and clients, though she lets her children take the spotlight.
- Avacy Morvain — Beta, 66. Fox-blood. Lucien’s sister. The family accountant — stern, precise, unflinching.
- Jae “Echo” Morvain — Alpha, 63. Fox-blood. Lucien’s brother. Skulk bartender and information-gatherer. Charismatic and quick-tongued, sharper than the easy smile suggests.
- Noriel Morvain — Omega, 61. Echo’s mate. Gentle, airy, and quietly observant — she sees what others miss, and she keeps it.
- Jenna Morvain — Beta, 58. Fox-blood. Lucien’s sister. The Skulk’s hostess. Possessive of her family in a way that is either comforting or alarming depending on who you are.
- Altair Morvain — Beta, 57. Fox-blood. Lucien’s cousin (paternal branch). Syndicate courier and investigator; fun-loving, and chronically underestimated for it.
- Azul “Daze” Morvain — Omega, 55. Fox-blood. Lucien’s cousin (paternal branch). Empathic and artistic; the family’s soft heart, which does not mean unguarded.
- Julien Morvain — Alpha, 25. Lucien’s son and heir. Clara’s twin. All charm and calculation, in proportions that shift with the moment.
- Clara Morvain — Omega, 25. Lucien’s daughter. Julien’s twin. Brilliant — and considerably more dangerous than she is given credit for.
- Cassian Morvain — Beta, 20. Lucien’s son. Quiet, clever, and underestimated by everyone who mistakes stillness for absence.
Ashworth Global Holdings — “The Evolution Empire”
“The designation system has kept this world small and scared for centuries. I intend to make it optional. That’s not idealism — it’s the next logical step.”
— Alexander Ashworth, Head of Operations
Warren City’s skyline is partly Ashworth’s doing. The towers are taller on the side of the river closest to the corporate district, and Ashworth Global’s headquarters sits among them like an argument — gleaming, immovable, and pointed directly at everything the pack world represents.
Alaric Ashworth built it over forty years from a position of exile and fury. He views both Kaelen Silverwood and Xander Frostriver as relics of a world that should have moved on by now. His son Alexander runs day-to-day operations with the same conclusion from a different angle: where Alaric has contempt, Alex has a plan.
Size: 10,000+ employees
HQ: Warren City (global subsidiaries worldwide)
Leadership: CEO Alaric Ashworth, Head of Operations Alexander Ashworth
Notable Characters
- Alaric Ashworth — Alpha, 68. CEO. Cunning, manipulative, and unaligned by design. Views both Kaelen and Xander as old-world relics overdue for obsolescence. Has a fated mate — like Kaelen before him, a bond that arrived uninvited and refuses to be reasoned away.
- Alexander “Alex” Ashworth — Alpha, 30. Head of Operations; Alaric’s son and heir. Cold, aloof, and quietly obsessed with dismantling the designation hierarchy through science.
- Vivienne Dubois — Beta, 50. Lead Scientist. Brilliant and ethically flexible; loyal to Alaric for the resources and freedom he provides.
- Samuel Martens — Beta, 23. Alexander’s bodyman and driver. Ex-special forces; precise and unobtrusive.
- Vex — Beta, 57. Science division; formerly Shadowfall’s medic and poison specialist. A particular kind of expertise that Alaric has found very useful indeed.
The Black Mountain Pack
“People ask why we never come down from the mountain. We ask why anyone would.”
— Lucen, Co-Packmaster
Northwest of Silverwood, where the forest darkens and the elevation begins its sharp climb, the Black Mountain Pack occupies a stretch of highland terrain that most outsiders never reach. Their manor sits high on the mountainside, overlooking sweeping valleys and cloud-draped peaks. The territory shifts with dramatic clarity through the seasons. To live here is to be shaped by it — the mountain is both shield and trial, and the Pack reflects that: enduring, patient, and difficult to move once decided.
Their alliance with Frostriver is one of mutual dependence — resources in exchange for a reliable flank — and it suits both sides to maintain it without involving anyone else.
Pack Size: 500+ wolves
Territory: Northwestern highlands; dark, forested mountains directly north of Silverwood, bordering Frostriver to the east
Leadership: Twin Alphas — Silas and Lucen
Allies: Frostriver Pack
Notable Characters
- Sterling Blackwell — Alpha. Silas and Lucen’s father. Former Packmaster; the mountain shaped him and he shaped it back.
- Lucy Blackwell — Beta. Sterling’s mate. Silas and Lucen’s mother.
- Silas — Alpha, 35. Co-Packmaster. Lucen’s twin.
- Lucen — Alpha, 35. Co-Packmaster. Silas’s twin.
The Unbound Claw — Rogue Pack
“I don’t want followers. I want people who understand that out here, discipline is the only thing standing between us and becoming what everyone already thinks we are.”
— Logan Thorne
In the unclaimed wilds between pack borders — the stretches of territory that belong to no one and operate under no law — the Unbound Claw has built something that shouldn’t exist: structure. A cluster of reforged abandoned cabins. A code that amounts to one rule: Logan’s word is law. Other rogues avoid their territory. That, too, is deliberate.
Logan Thorne does not court attention. He has spent ten years in the wilds building something controlled out of chaos, partly because control is the only thing keeping him functional and partly because the alternative is what he was on the night everything went wrong. He is cold, calculating, and carrying a grief he has never once put down. He is also, without knowing it, the linchpin of a war waiting to happen.
Pack Size: Varied; fluid
Territory: Unclaimed wilds between pack borders
Leadership: Logan Thorne
Notable Characters
- Logan Thorne — Alpha, 36. Leader of the Unbound Claw. Formerly Blood Eclipse. Cold, calculating, and carrying a damage he has never allowed himself to put down. Killed Vyra Silverwood ten years ago when he lost control of his wolf.
- Stalker — Beta, 25. Rogue. Blind, and absolutely does not act like it. Loyal to Logan with no caveats and no conditions.
- Matteo — Alpha, 33. Rogue. Violent and barely containable. Listens to Logan. Acknowledges no one else.
The Central Mystery
Ten years ago, Vyra Silverwood was found murdered on the Silverwood-Frostriver border — on the riverbank that has always been this world’s most volatile line.
Silverwood blames Frostriver. Frostriver denies it. Both are wrong.
The real killer is Logan Thorne — former Blood Eclipse Alpha, who lost control of his wolf in the grip of his bloodline’s curse and crossed the border in the worst possible moment. Xander Frostriver witnessed enough to know the truth. He has stayed silent because telling it means admitting he concealed it, and that confession would give Kaelen Silverwood every justification he needs to bring the whole world down.
The secret is the fault line everything else is built on.
And fault lines, eventually, break.
